EDMOND – VIBES Edmond’s First Thursdays, the monthly outdoor arts walk event, will return for the fifth event of the season on Thursday along Broadway in downtown Edmond.

August VIBES will feature several live demonstrations, visual artists, performing artists and a VIBES Visa Challenge where participants will have the chance to win a prize valued at over $ 2,000.

The evening will feature a live Shakurah Maynard mural on the corner of Broadway and Hurd and a ceramics demonstration south of The Edmond Railyard where artist Erin Harris and her friends will throw clay for spectators.

Special performances during VIBES will include Kyle Dillingham (southwest corner of Broadway and Hurd), Jane Mays & The Minnie Funk Band (at Edmond Railyard Patio), A Perfect Body Band (southwest corner of Main and Broadway) and Alissa Aerial (northwest corner of Broadway and Campbell). The August event will also have more artists than previous VIBES.

Over 40 visual artists will set up shop throughout Edmond town center, showing off their craft and selling their work. New attendees to VIBES will include David Billen, Angel Jaramillo, Dan Reyna and Jordan Tacker, as well as returning artists Lori Black, Trayson Conner, David Padgett, Jim Renicek and many more.

As part of the VIBES Visa Challenge, participants can collect a VIBES Visa task card from participating downtown businesses and perform tasks of their choice. Each completed task will be equivalent to an entry in the drawing. Tasks will include visiting visual artists and companies, buying into any VIBES company or artist, and posting to social media using the hashtag #VIBESVISA. The prize will include gift certificates to many downtown businesses and original artwork from over 10 artists. The VIBES Visa Challenge is presented by Edmond Life & Leisure.

VIBES Edmond’s First Thursdays is a program of the Edmond Fine Arts Institute, Edmond’s non-profit community arts organization that offers visual and performing arts classes for children and adults year-round and the Art program in Schools of third and fourth years for the students of the public school of Edmond.
