However, we’re back this week with the fourth part of our 2022 Olympic hockey jersey redesign series. This week we feature one of the teams that is least affected by the NHL’s decision to withdraw from the Games. , because the country of Latvia currently only has a few very select NHL players.

For the Latvian team, we went for a fairly simple design that took inspiration from a variety of their old jerseys. The Latvian national hockey team crest is the main logo on the chest.

We have made a minor adjustment to this patch by adding a section for the word “Latvija” itself which is found on almost all of Latvia’s national hockey jerseys. We chose to use the typography for this which was used in their jerseys in 2002, where they had their best Olympic record of 2-1-1.

For the stripes in this pattern, we also decided to use a simple straight line on the main jersey, inspired by the national flag of Latvia.

This set of jerseys pays homage to Latvia’s well-established identity in international hockey while making a few adjustments to take their jerseys to the next level. The jerseys offer a clean and fresh look that connects the past with the present. Latvia would definitely stand out with this set of shirts.
