January 11 – Road commission meeting on 2022 roundabout projects in White Lake

White Lake, MI – The Oakland County Road Commission (RCOC), in partnership with the Township of White Lake, will host a public information meeting on Tuesday January 11 on the planned 2022 construction of roundabouts on Elizabeth Lake Road / Teggerdine Road and Intersections of Elizabeth Lake Road and Oxbow Lake Road in the Township of White Lake.

The meeting will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Oxbow Elementary School, 100 Oxbow Lake Road in White Lake Township. The meeting will be an open house format – there will be no formal presentations. CROC staff will be present to answer questions throughout the meeting.

Anyone attending the meeting should wear a mask in accordance with school policy.

The approximately $ 1.7 million safety improvement project is funded by RCOC and the Township of White Lake.

Construction and safety improvements include:

  • Conversion of the three-lane intersection of Elizabeth Lake Road and Teggerdine Road, now controlled by stop signs, to a single-lane roundabout.
  • Conversion of the three-lane intersection of Elizabeth Lake Road and Oxbow Lake Road, now controlled by stop signs, to a single-lane roundabout.
  • Paving of roads near roundabouts with asphalt.
  • Installation of curbs and edgers, sidewalks, pedestrian crossings that comply with the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and street lighting at roundabouts.
  • Storm sewers and drains improvements.
  • Milling and repaving of Elizabeth Lake Road between roundabouts with the addition of four-foot paved shoulders.

The relocation of utilities should take place in winter 2022. Tree removal should take place in February and March 2022.

Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2022 with the closure of the Elizabeth Lake, Oxbow Lake and Teggerdine roads to through traffic at intersections and within the project boundaries. During the works, access to homes and businesses in the construction area will be maintained. The detour for through traffic throughout the Project will be from Elizabeth Lake Road to Williams Lake Road to Highland Road to Bogie Lake Road to Cooley Lake Road to Oxbow Lake Road and vice versa.

The project will end in late fall 2022.

The intersection of Elizabeth Lake Road and Teggerdine Road transports approximately 15,070 vehicles per day. The intersection of Elizabeth Lake Road and Oxbow Lake Road carries approximately 15,490 vehicles per day.
