Exclusive: watch this clip of MARIONETTE

How is this Journey song? “Scary kids in a seaside town…” No, that’s not it. But maybe it should be, and it would be a shoe for the supernatural thriller theme song, Puppet. The story centers on Marianne Winter, a newly widowed child psychiatrist, as she moves to Scotland, hopefully seeking a new start. As she settles into her new life, she begins to heal a “ten year old secret” who loves art, (ok, nothing alarming here) and claims to control the future through this aforementioned art ( ok, I take back what I said). Simply a case of imaginative youth or something more sinister awaiting Marianne in Scotland? As the child’s horrific skits begin to come to life, Marianne’s life and reality is derailed.

Here’s what director Elbert van Strien had to say about the creation Puppet:

Puppet has always been a very special project for me, and it took me many years to complete it. It was an amazing trip and a dream come true. I hope American audiences enjoy this exciting and scary genre film, but also the journey into metaphysics as much as I did while working on it. I have always admired 1970s American cinema where the genre was associated with artistic voice in great films such as Parallax view, Chinese district, Taxi driver etc. I think my main influences are Kubrick, Hitchcock, Nicolas Roeg and Polanski (The tenant, Rosemary baby). I have no doubt that the audience could recognize some of them in my film.

Puppet is directed by Elbert van Strien (Two staring eyes) and the stars Thekla Reuten (In Bruges), Peter Mullan (Children of men), Emun Elliott (Game Of Thrones) and Elijah Wolf (T2 Trainspotting). Watch this exclusive clip below:
