Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff are teaming up for the very first time in Ali Abbas’ upcoming film Zafar Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, the cast announced in an action-packed teaser on social media.
The film, which is slated for a Christmas 2023 release, bears the same title as the 1998 classic, which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda in the lead roles. But we do not know if it is a remake. The release announcement uses the 1998 film’s title track in the background. The original was a comedic caper, while this one is described as an “action artist”.
In the two-minute video posted by Akshay and Tiger on Instagram, Tiger is seen rappelling down an underground facility and hitting armed guards with his weapons and martial arts skills. At the same time, we can also see Akshay confronting the guards in another part of the facility.
Very quickly, the two meet. As Akshay asks Tiger what he’s doing there, the young actor responds in Hindi, “I’m here to advertise my movie.” When he informs that his film’s release date is Christmas 2023, Akshay says it will clash with him. Then Tiger says his movie is called Chote Miyan and Akshay says his is called Bade Miyan, before Akshay says, “Saath aayega (will you do it together)?”
At this, the two join hands and the theme music from the original film plays in the background. Sharing the video on Instagram, Akshay wrote, “The year you debuted in this world, I debuted in movies. Phir bhi muqabla karoge Chote Miyan? Chal phir ho jaye full of action! (Still, you want to compete small? So let’s get down to business.)” Tiger also shared the video, captioning it “Double Action, Double Dhamaka!!”

There had been reports earlier that the two actors were reuniting for a remake of the 1998 film. But a report to Bollywood Hungama over the weekend claimed that the films only share one title and that one. is not a remake. The film is produced by Jackky Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment.
