Alhamra Hall hosts a calligraphy workshop


LAHORE: The Department of Youth Affairs of Punjab and the Lahore Arts Council (LAC) organized a calligraphy workshop in connection with Ashra Shan-e-Rehmatulil Alameen (PBUH) celebrations at Alhamra Hall.

Renowned teachers Irfan Ahmad Khan, Jamshed Qaiser and Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi provide training for young artists in the workshop. Executive Director Alhamra Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi also inspected the work of budding artists at the workshop. A large number of female students from different colleges participate in the calligraphy workshop.

DG Tariq Qureshi, in a statement, said the calligraphy workshop was organized to celebrate Ashra Shan-e-Rehmatulil Alameen (PBUH) appropriately. “A large number of young artists demonstrate their artistic abilities in this workshop. Pakistan has a respectable status in the field of calligraphy. The calligraphic skills of Pakistani Sadequain are recognized worldwide,” he added. Punjab Director General of Sports Muhammad Tariq Qureshi has urged young artists to hone their calligraphy skills by learning from expert teachers.

Earlier, a Mehfil Milad-e-Mustafa (PBUH) was also held at Alhamra Hall as part of Ashra Shan-e-Rehmatulil Alameen (PBUH) celebrations under the auspices of the Department of Youth Affairs and sports Punjab and Lahore Arts Council (LAC). Provincial Assembly Member Sadia Sohail Rana also participated in Mehfil-e-Milad. Prominent naat khawans in the country have shown their respect to the Holy Prophet (PBUH) through their naats at Mehfil-e-Milad. A large number of people participated in Mehfil-e-Milad. The great scholar Dr. Pir Tariq Sharifzada also highlighted various aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) during the ceremony. Meanwhile, Minister of Youth and Sports of Punjab, Malik Taimoor Masood visited Alhamra Art Gallery and viewed the artworks featured in the exhibition based on the name of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) . Punjab Minister for Youth and Sports Malik Taimoor Masood was accompanied by Administrative Director Syed Umair Hassan, Executive Director of Alhamra Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi and other officials on the occasion. Minister of Youth and Sports of Punjab, Malik Taimoor Masood, appreciated the work of the artists and congratulated Alhamra for this magnificent exhibition, saying that the love and respect of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is a real asset for all Muslim. Minister of Youth and Sports of Punjab, Malik Taimoor Masood said that the Department of Youth and Sports of Punjab celebrates Ashra Shan-e-Rehmatulil Alameen (PBUH) appropriately by conducting different naat ceremonies, milad and qira’at.

“Participating in Mehfil-e-Samaa, in which the famous Qawwal Sher Miandad and his team showed their Qawwali skills, was a special occasion for me,” he added. Alhamra Zulfiqar Executive Director Ali Zulfi and other officials were also present at Mehfil-e-Samaa.
